Tesla is the undisputed leader in the EV business, and the Tesla Model 3 has played a significant role in the rise of the brand’s popularity. Released in 2017, it is Tesla’s cheapest car even though it underwent several price hikes and now costs over $10,000 more than it did at the start of 2021. So, should you invest in the new Tesla Model 3? Here is all you need to know:

Trims and pricing

You can find the new Tesla Model 3 in three different trims. Every trim is designed to serve individual needs to align with the brand’s aim to cater to the maximum number of people.

1. Rear-wheel drive

The first trim option is the rear-wheel drive trim (earlier known as the Standard range model), offered at a base price of $44,490. It is the most budget-friendly Model 3 trim and delivers a top speed of 140 mph, a range of 267 miles, and goes from 0–60 mph in 5.8 seconds.

2. Long range

Compared to the base trim, this is a more luxurious option. Powered by the dual-motor AWD drivetrain, this trim delivers a top speed of 145 mph, an estimated range of 358 miles, and goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. Its price starts at $50,990.

3. Performance

This trim is designed for people who want the maximum performance that Tesla can offer. With the performance trim, the new Tesla Model 3 can deliver a top speed of 162 mph, a range of 315 miles, and goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds.

Getting started

With the new Tesla Model 3, you can choose from three keys—your phone that you can set up via the Tesla mobile app, a $150 key fob, and a Tesla key card. You can lock or unlock the car using the key card by swiping it on the B-pillar. However, if you use your phone as a key or a key fob, you have to walk towards the car, push the door handle to the right side, and pull the door open to get in. If the phone is within the five-foot range from your vehicle, you can auto-lock it easily. You can also remotely lock or unlock the car using the Tesla mobile app or the push on the car-shaped Tesla key fob’s roof.

Smooth experience

Tesla owners should quickly learn that the gas pedal is not for the gas but the throttle, as this vehicle does not use gas. Blipping the throttle will result in silent and instant acceleration. Additionally, as soon as you let go of the pedal in the car, the braking begins without you putting your foot on the brake pedal. When decelerating, it employs a regenerative braking system for energy absorption. However, the car has a brake pedal. So, you should be prepared to use it.

Options

The 2022 Tesla Model 3 options are pretty straightforward. You have two standard colors to choose from—Midnight Silver Metallic and Pearl White. You can also opt for other colors at an additional cost, starting from $1,000–$2,000. Alternatively, you can also opt for a full self-driving capability that will cost you an additional $10,000.

The new Tesla Model 3 is a premium yet affordable vehicle for the average customer. You can choose between an all-wheel drive and a rear-wheel drive drivetrain. This car is an excellent option for anyone seeking a top-notch EV vehicle with plush features like a 15-inch touchscreen display, full self-driving capabilities, and autopilot mode. You can get the car for $40,000–$60,000, depending on the trim and features you choose. The new Tesla Model 3 is also a cheaper alternative to the other models offered by the brand.
